WALKING AND SNOW IN ARLINGTON

While County crews are busy clearing streets and other public property, residents and business owners are relied on to remove snow from sidewalks and adjacent bus stops as soon as possible.

The condition of the sidewalks can even affect Arlington Public Schools' decision to open - so please pitch in!

Arlington County Programs and Services During Inclement Weather: Helpful Resources

  • General information and updates, check the Arlington County web site at www.arlingtonva.us or www.arlingtonva.us/winter, or watch Arlington Cable Channel 71.
  • School closings, delays or early dismissals due to inclement weather: www.arlington.k12.va.us, tune in to Arlington Cable Channel 70, or call the toll-free hotline at 1-866-322-4277.
  • Snowblower Volunteer Program. The County has a limited number of snowblowers available to lend to Civic Associations or community groups to assist with clearing routes to schools and to Metro stops, or to clear the walkways of disabled neighbors. Training is available: call 703-228-6522.
  • TDD is available for the hearing impaired through Virginia Relay at 1.800.828.1120.
