Step on UP: Walking Challenge

Did you know that a new study in the American Journal of Public Health suggests that the more television you watch, the less active you will be? So, swap a show for a walk! Each week chose one time when you think about turning on the tube and go outside and take a walk instead! Click the link above to see more about the study.

donaldson run

Donaldson Run Walkabout Revisited

WALKArlington is pleased to announce the revamp of the Donaldson Run Walkabout! Larry Finch, longtime resident of Donaldson Run, walks us through the area's natural beauty. Be sure to check out the map and more detailed info (located at the link above) and take the walk! Also, catch Larry's guided walk on TV on AVN 74 and later online at WALKArlington.com! The Pike Hike, highlighted in last month's Pacer, is still airing as well if you haven't caught it yet.

fair

Visit the Arlington County Fair!

The Arlington County Fair is celebrating its 30th year of fun! We'll be there to help celebrate, handing out all sorts of fun WALKArlington goodies, so be sure to pay us a visit! The fair will be held August 17 through 20 at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center. And while you're there, why not take a walk around the TJ track? For more information about the fair, click the link above.

Read all about Arlington's schools, demographics, nightlife, libraries, arts, transportation, walkability, history, health services, parks and recreation, places of worship, everything! There's even a great article by our very own Chris Zimmerman (did you catch him on AVN 74 on the Pike Hike, highlighted in last month's Pacer?). Check it out by clicking the link above for all sorts of great info on our wonderful county!

barley

Rest in Peace, Barley

On July 17, we bid a sad farewell to our beloved Barley, from Tom Petty's Clarendon Discovery Walkabout. Rest in peace, Barley, and may your doggie heaven be forever full of fun Walkabouts.

That's it for August... See you in September!
