ARLINGTON, Va. --Arlington County Board Chair Barbara A. Favola last night was reelected to the County Board, according to unofficial results reported by the Arlington Registrar's Office. E. T. 'Libby' Garvey, Chair of the Arlington School Board, and Frank K. Wilson, both incumbents, were reelected to the Arlington School Board. "Voter turn-out was slightly lower than expected; however, much higher compared to previous elections," said Registrar Linda Lindberg. "Voters turned up in the early part of the morning and kept us busy throughout the day." Official results are expected on Friday, Nov. 5, following certification by the Electoral Board. With all 47 precincts reporting, including absentee ballots, the vote totals are: Arlington County Board: Barbara A. Favola, 59,999 (72.12%), F. Landey Patton IV, 22,562 (27.12%), write-in, 627 (0.75%). Arlington School Board: E. T. 'Libby' Garvey, 53,597 (38.84%), Frank K. Wilson, 45,487 (32.96%), William S. Barker, 26,916 (19.50%), Shaun W. Whelden, 11,169 (8.09%), write-in, 839 (0.61%). Arlington voters also approved four bond referenda totaling $208 million in four major capital investment projects: Local Parks & Recreation: Yes, 67,508 (75.94%), No, 21,385 (24.06%). Transportation and Community Infrastructure: Yes, 71,416 (80.67%), No, 17,111 (19.33%). Metro: Yes, 72,960 (81.93%), No, 16,089 (18.07%). Arlington Public School Projects: Yes, 71,303 (80.24%), No, 17563 (19.76%). A total of 95,150 Arlington residents voted in this election, representing 72.67% of the 130,942 registered voters. Favola was first elected in 1995 and also served as chairman in 1999. Garvey joined the School Board in 1997, and served as Chair from 1999 until 2001. Wilson has been an Arlington School Board member since 1984; he served as Chair of the Arlington School Board in 1987-1988 and 1992-1993 and Vice Chair of the Board in 1999-2001.
